The central characteristics of the postmodernism present us with a radiacally different way of looking at life. At this point, we need to remember the proverb that says "if you want to know about water, don´t ask a fish". The postmodernism elements of our culture are to us like water to fish: we live and breathe in them everyday, but we take them so much for granted that is is very difficult for us to see them.
The most general characteristics od postmodernism are fragmentation and pluralism. Our culture is rapidly the point where we no longer think of oueselvesin a universe but rather a multi-verse, and the fragmentation describe our growing sense of gow thing really are.
I like the quote that you put that said, "if you want to know about water, dont ask a fish", because I think the water represente the postmodernism times, and we represente the fish.
